Cheap accommodation in Bakirkoy: studio flats and how to book
The way to a cheap stay in Bakırköy is to look at the total cost of your trip rather than the nightly rate: pick the flat that fits your group, ask for one price covering every night, and choose an address from which you can reach public transport on foot. A flat with its own kitchen also puts your food spending in your own hands.
We put the tips below together with real information from our flats in Zeytinlik, Bakırköy. We give you the current price straight away on the phone or over WhatsApp, where you can write to us in English; just send your dates and how many people are coming.
Pick the flat that fits your group
Budgeting starts with renting only the space you need. We offer two flat types on this site, and both have a kitchen, private bathroom, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
| Who is coming? | Best fit | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| Solo traveller | Studio apartment (1+0) | Bed, living area and kitchen in one room |
| Couple | Studio apartment (1+0) | Sleeps 1–2, compact and tidy |
| Couple who want more space | One-bedroom apartment (1+1) | Separate bedroom and living room |
| Three people | One-bedroom apartment (1+1) | Sleeps 2–3 in a single flat |
If there are three of you, ask about the One-bedroom apartment (1+1) first: the cost splits three ways and everyone still has their own space. We go through the details in our guide for three friends travelling together.
Ask for a total price, not a nightly rate
When you call, have three things ready: arrival date, departure date and the number of guests. With those we can quote a clear amount for the whole stay. If you have more than one set of dates in mind, ask about all of them in the same conversation; you will see straight away which one suits your budget.
We confirm the booking by written message and send the cancellation and change conditions in writing at the same time. Written confirmation makes it clear from the start what the amount covers. You can pay in cash, by bank transfer/EFT or with a credit card on arrival; there is no need to share your card details online.
Use the kitchen to manage your food budget
The item that is most often left out of a budget is food. Every one of our flats has a kitchen, so you can make your own breakfast and dinner. For groceries, the local market street and Capacity shopping mall, 9 minutes away, are within walking distance.
- Make breakfast in the flat and start the day early and cheaply.
- Plan lunch out while you are sightseeing and dinner back at the flat.
- Bakeries, cafés and restaurants around Bakırköy Freedom Square (Özgürlük Meydanı) and İstanbul Caddesi are 6 minutes away; handy on the days you want to eat out.
- A walk along the Bakırköy seafront in the evening costs nothing; the seafront is 14 minutes away.
Lean on the rail network for transport
Location makes the biggest difference to a budget when it comes to transport. Marmaray Bakırköy station is an 8-minute walk. On Marmaray, Yenikapı takes about 15 minutes and Sirkeci about 20. The Metrobus and M1A metro stops in İncirli are 18 minutes away.
- Buy an Istanbulkart instead of taking a taxi every day; we explain how to use it in our Istanbulkart guide.
- Save taxis for heavy luggage or late nights.
- Check current timetables and fares from official sources.
Time your arrival and departure around your plan
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is until 11:00. If you arrive early in the morning or leave late in the evening, ask about early check-in or late check-out before paying for an extra night; it depends on availability. Let us know in advance if you will arrive late at night so we can plan your arrival together.
The small things that push the total up
A nightly rate can look reasonable while a few habits push the total cost of the stay up:
- Choosing an address far from public transport and taking a taxi every day
- Eating every meal out
- Forgetting the check-out time and paying for an extra night
- Giving the wrong number of guests and changing the plan at check-in
All of these are easy to avoid with a few minutes of conversation before you book. The clearer we talk, the clearer the total.
A short checklist
- Do you know how many people are coming?
- Have you asked for the total for all nights?
- Was your booking confirmed by written message?
- Did you get the cancellation and change conditions in writing?
- Do the check-in and check-out times fit your travel plan?
- Is your passport with you? Turkish guests can also use their T.C. kimlik card. You need ID at check-in.
